Poet. Studied Hebrew litrature and Philosophy at Bar Ilan Universitiy Israel. Published 14 books of poetry in Hebrew and Ladino (Judeo-Spanish).
Winner of the 1994 "Fernando Jeno Award" the international literature prize for jewish literature given by the Jewish community of Mexico.
Winner of the 1996 "Ateneo de Jaen Award" the international literature prize for poetry in Jaen Andalucia, Spain.Winner of the 1999 "Prime Minister Literature Award" Israel.
Winner of the 2003 "Poetry Award" the international prize for poetry given by the "Orient-Occident" Academy of Curtea de Arges, Romania.
The first PH.D on contemporary modern Sephardic poetry (2000-2002) was written on "The poetry of Margalit Matitiahu" by Giusepina Gerometta from the University of Udine, Italy, (Faculty of foreign languages)
In 2004, a square was named after her in Puente Castro, Leon, in Spain.

Has participated in many International Congresses of poets in USA, Canada, England, Italy, Argentina, Mexico and Spain.
